How to clear temporary files
Every time you surf the internet, temporary files get created and stored
on your system. Any information on sites you’ve visited gets stored
as cookies on your system. These temporary files facilitate bringing up
that site faster when you try accessing it the next time around. These
temporary files get stored on your hard disk, so over a period of time,
if you don’t clear them, they tend to occupy a large portion of
your hard disk space and tend to slow down your system. Here’s how
you go about clear your temporary files.
- Click on Start and go to Control Panel
. Now double-click on Internet Options .
- Select the General tab and select the Delete
Files option under Temporary Internet Files.
- In the Delete Files dialog box select the Delete all offline
content check box, and then click
OK .
OR
- Click on Start and go to
Run . Now type %temp% and
hit OK.
- Now select all the files and delete.
Remember deleting temporary files from your internet explorer doesn’t
always get rid of the cookies. Read our segment on How
to get rid of cookies in your Browser to
know more about them.
