How to clean up the System Tray
The System tray shows the set of icons you see on the bottom right of
your task bar. These icons represent the programs that are loaded into
your system’s memory on bootup. Closing down a System tray icon
can free up memory. This in turn helps speed up your system’s performance.
- To see all the icons of the programs in the system tray, click on
the left arrow and expand the tray.
- To locate a particular program move the mouse over each icon. This
will enable you to see the program it represents.
- Right click on the program to open the Option Panel.
- Click the Quit or Close or Exit
Option if it appears or open the program and look under Tools.
Go to options for any option to disable the System
tray.
- Make sure that the icon is cleared from the System Tray.
- To recheck, run the program again from the start menu and ensure that
the icon is not automatically generated in the System Tray.
Note: System Tray icons can be temporarily disabled with this method.
In order to clear them permanently from the System tray you will have
to troubleshoot it in the startup routine of Windows.
