How to get rid of Cookies in the
Web Browser
Every time you surf the web, websites create cookies on your system to
store you personal information. Your browser will store your cookies files
on you local hard disk. Every time you visit the website, whose cookies
are stored on your system, your personal information like your name, address
etc., get sent to site. Cookies not only pose a security threat, but also
take up space on your hard disk. You can get rid of cookies by changing
your privacy settings of your browser.
- Open your Internet Explorer browser page. Go to the Tools
menu and click on Internet Options.
- On the Privacy tab, under settings,
you can decide on the privacy level you want by using the slider. For
maximum privacy, to block out all cookies, push the slider to the Block
All cookies point
- Remember: Some websites require cookie files and you may have a problem
accessing them if you are too strict with your privacy policy. So set
your slider at the High or Medium
setting. This will block most cookies especially from advertisers. You
will also be notified before your personal information is stored by
any cookie.
- After having selected your settings as High or Medium, Click on OK
to activate your new privacy policy.
Clearing your temporary
internet files will get rid of most of the cookies that are already
on your system. But for those stubborn ones,
- In your Internet Options page, on the General
tab, under Temporary Internet files, click on the Delete
cookies button.
You can now be rid of those pesky Cookies.
