2 Ways to Add Touch Keyboard to Taskbar on Windows 10

Cannot Change Desktop Icons in Windows 10-What to Do

If the computer system informs you that the system administrator has disabled launching of the Display Control Panel when you go to make changes to desktop icons, you can follow the steps illustrated in this text to tackle the problem.

Steps to allow changing desktop icons in Windows 10:

Step 1: Access the Local Group Policy Editor. Step 2: Find and open the setting named "Prevent changing desktop icons". FYI, it can be found in User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Personalization.

Step 3: Do not configure this setting. Choose Not Configured and click OK in the setting's window.

Tip: Alternatively, you can select Disabled and tap OK in the same window to disable the setting.

Hide or Display Recently Opened Programs in Start Menu

How to Add Desktop Icons on Windows 10

2. Deselect Remove background images (where available) and click OK to show the background.

How to Remove Desktop Icons on Windows 10

Apart from directly deleting the icons on your computer desktop, you can remove desktop icons using the other two methods illustrated in this article.

Step 1: Open Desktop Icon Settings via search. Sub-procedure 1: Press Windows+C to open Charms Menu and choose Search on it to go to Search bar.

Sub-procedure 2: Enter desktop icon in the empty box and click Show or hide common icons on the desktop.

Step 2: Deselect the desktop icons (i.e. Computer, Network, Recycle Bin, User's Files and Control Panel) and select OK, as exhibited in the picture below.

How to Replace Start Menu with Start Screen on Windows 10

The Start Menu (see Pic. 1) is back in Windows 10, which is a good news for those who think it is more practical and convenient than the Start Screen (see Pic. 2). Nonetheless, for other people who get used to the Start Screen, they may miss it and even want to get it back. As a result, this article particularly illustrates how to replace Start Menu with Start Screen in Windows 10.

Steps to replace Start Menu with Start Screen on Windows 10: Step 1: Open the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog. More specifically speaking, right-click any blank area on the taskbar and select Properties on the context menu.

Step 2: Enter Start Menu settings. Choose the Start Menu tab in the dialog box.

How to Restore Desktop Icons in Windows 10

How to Unpin Tiles from Start Menu in Windows 10
